Android 7.0 Nougat heads to Samsung's Galaxy S7 and S7 edge on Canadian carriers

Samsung began its general rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in January, and since then, it"s made its way to both handsets on Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile in the United States. Now, the update is available on several carriers across the border in Canada too.

SamMobile has confirmed that the update is now rolling out to both devices on Bell, EastLink, Freedom Mobile, SaskTel, Virgin Mobile and Wind Mobile. The update is around 1.3GB in size, and brings the Galaxy S7"s firmware version up to G930W8VLU2BQB6, and that of the Galaxy S7 edge to G935W8VLU2BQB6.

One notable omission from that list of carriers is Rogers, which hasn"t yet begun its rollout. However, Rogers has clarified its plans and says that Nougat will be available for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge from March 20.

Remember that major updates like this one tend to be released in "waves", so it may take a few days - or perhaps even weeks, before all eligible devices are upgraded.
