Android 7.0 Nougat now available for Galaxy S6 and S6 edge on Sprint

Last week, Sprint began rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for its Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+. Today, the carrier is making that update available for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge too.

Almost eight months have passed since Google originally released Android 7.0 - but as is always the case with Android updates, manufacturers and carriers have been taking their sweet time in bringing a taste of that Nougat goodness to their devices.

Finally, the wait is over for Galaxy S6 owners, whose devices will be updated to build G920PVPU4DQC7, while the Galaxy S6 edge will be bumped up to G925PVPU4DQC7. It"s a pretty chunky update, at over 1GB in size for each handset.

So far, just 4.9% of active Android devices are running version 7.0 or newer of the OS, and Google has already announced details of its next major update, currently known as Android O.
