Samsung began upgrading its Galaxy Tab S2 tablets to Android 7.0 Nougat in April, starting in Europe, before bringing the update to the United States a couple of weeks later. US carriers didn"t begin rolling out the update until earlier this month - first T-Mobile, followed by Verizon a few days later.
Now, AT&T has commenced its Android 7.0 rollout for the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 as well. The update is around 1.1GB in size, and will upgrade the build to NRD90M.T817AUCU2CQE3 or NRD90M.T818AUCU1BQE2, depending on the exact model of the device.
In addition to the improvements that Google baked into its Android 7.0 update, the Tab S2 will also get Samsung"s own additions, including its user interface customizations. On top of that, the update brings new security patches to the device; however, AT&T is not yet rolling out the very latest June security update to the Tab S2, but the May update instead.
Google originally released Android 7.0 Nougat ten months ago, and since then, versions 7.1, 7.1.1, and 7.1.2 have arrived. The company is preparing to launch the next major version of its OS - currently known as Android O - in August, while manufacturers and carriers continue to slowly upgrade their devices to Nougat.
