Android 7.0 Nougat now available for Sony's Xperia X Performance on Xperia Beta Program

Google began rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat in August, and it"s since made its way to many of its own devices, including some low-cost handsets on the Android One program. Manufacturers such as LG and Motorola are already preparing to upgrade some of their devices to Nougat, and Sony is also working on getting the update ready for its range.

As Xperia Blog reports, Sony has released its Android 7.0 beta to a limited number of Xperia X Performance owners enrolled in its Xperia Beta Program. The version that"s available for them now bumps up the firmware build number to 39.2.A.0.248, and includes Google"s Android security patches for October.

The beta includes features that Google has baked into its Nougat update, along with a few of Sony"s own ingredients. The Japanese firm has added new options to the camera app, including manual shutter speed control and manual ISO control when taking full-resolution photos. The update comes with various bug fixes too, as well as improved touch sensitivity.

Sony revealed the list of its Xperia devices that will be eligible for the Android 7.0 update back in August, but we don"t yet know when it plans to actually begin upgrading those devices. Meanwhile, Google has already released its first Android 7.1 Developer Preview.
