Android co-founder Andy Rubin teases his new device from Essential

Andy Rubin revealed in January that he would be launching a new startup called Essential. The firm will focus on creating smartphones, and other consumer hardware. Today, Rubin has released a teaser image of his upcoming device which looks to offer, at a minimum, an impressive display.

If you"re unfamiliar with Rubin, he is the co-founder of Danger, which created the Hiptop, better known as T-Mobile"s Sidekick, and is also one of the co-founders of Android. After nine years with Google, Rubin left to focus on new projects.

I"m really excited about how this is shaping up. Eager to get it in more people"s hands... pic.twitter.com/LRzQCFSKTm

From the image above, we can see that the new device will offer a bezel-less design. While only a section can be seen, it looks familiar. Late last year, Xiaomi stunned the world with its Mi MIX handset that not only offered a bezel-less design, but also included technologies like a piezoelectric speaker, and ultrasonic emitter.

Although it"s a shame that there aren"t more details about the device, it is still exciting to see something new that will eventually be formally introduced to the world.
