Android Facebook application finally gets an update

Android owners are receiving more goodness this week, with Facebook just announcing that the Facebook Mobile application has been updated to version 1.3 today.

The application has undergone a large overhaul, which is apparent on launch, with an entirely redesigned interface, and sporting a large amount of new features. Notable additions include video playback, RSVP for events and the ability to respond to friend requests without leaving the app, as well as a updated home page, draggable notification drawer and a "photo reel for easy viewing of your friends" photos and videos." Facebook also improved usability, and you"re now able to update your status or search for friends in one click.

The update is available now for Android, and you should receive a notification from the market. If you don"t, search for "Facebook" on the Android market to manually update, or use the QR code at the bottom of this post. More information on the application is available from its Facebook page.

After using the application for the last half hour, the quality is immediately apparent and is much quicker to respond, though it looks like the Facebook widget is either missing or no longer works, as I was unable to use it after updating on my HTC Legend. The application"s interface is now up to date to reflect Facebook"s current style, and is much easier to use.
