Google is hosting its I/O developer conference this week, where it will outline its plans for many of its products, including Android, Chrome OS, Daydream, and more. Today, the company kicked off the event with an opening keynote hosted by its CEO, Sundar Pichai.
One of the first announcements that Pichai made today was an update on Android"s global usage. The ubiquitous operating system is now installed on over 2 billion monthly active devices, offering a huge opportunity to developers. That number includes phones and tablets, but not other installations, such as Android Auto, Android TVs, and devices such as refrigerators that also use Android.
Pichai also revealed that Google Photos now has over 500 million active users; and Google Drive has over 800 million active users, uploading over 3 billion objects to the cloud every day.
