Google recommends that the first thing developers do is to check to make sure their apps work, which can be done by installing the new build and downloading the app from the Play Store. If it doesn"t, it"s recommended that they make the changes necessary and submit it immediately before attempting to target the new API.
For those targeting Android O, a new version of Android Studio 3.0 is available in the canary channel. It includes quite a few new features, such as support for Kotlin, Gradle build optimizations, support for Instant Apps, Downloadable Fonts, and more.
The news comes about three weeks after the second Developer Preview, which was also the first for the Android Beta Program. If you"re on the Beta Program, which you can sign up for here, you"ll be getting today"s update "soon". If you just can"t wait though, you can flash the image on your supported device, which includes the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Nexus Player.
According to the Android O Program Overview, there will be one more Developer Preview after this one, which will be available this month and will contain near-final system images, followed by the final release in August.
