Android Pie update for Galaxy S9+ hints at four Galaxy S10 models

Samsung has a lot of surprises for Galaxy fans in the coming year, and today a new rumor has surfaced regarding the upcoming Galaxy S10. While only three models of the device have been rumored in the past, a fourth one that will support 5G is believed to be in the works, according to a fresh report from XDA Developers. The four models that it has identified are code-named “beyond 0”, “beyond 1”, “beyond 2”, and “beyond 2 5G”.

This information was discovered in the XML data files found within the Android 9.0 Pie update for the Galaxy S9+. “Beyond” is known to be Samsung’s internal codename for the upcoming Galaxy S10 range.

XDA Developers came up with a list of descriptions for each of the models as follows:

beyond0 – Samsung Galaxy S10, possibly with a 5.8-inch display, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and single rear camera

beyond1 – Samsung Galaxy S10, possibly with a 5.8-inch display and dual rear cameras

beyond2 – Samsung Galaxy S10+, possibly with a 6.44-inch display and triple rear cameras and double front-facing camera

beyond2 5G – Samsung Galaxy S10+, identical to above but with a modem capable of supporting 5G

It remains unclear whether Samsung will actually launch the four models of the Galaxy S10 series since the company has not released any statement yet. The devices are supposed to be introduced early next year.

While no official details are known about the device, previous rumors suggested that it will have in-display fingerprint readers and 3D facial recognition support.
