Android Wear 2.0 rolls out to Huawei Watch testers [Update]

Following a lengthy delay, Android Wear 2.0 officially launched last month, and Google said that it would begin making its way to "supported watches in the coming weeks". Not all Android Wear devices are eligible for the 2.0 upgrade, but the Huawei Watch is on the list.

At this stage, Huawei has only begun sending out a dev-keys signed build for Android Wear 2.0 to approved testers only as noted on Taylor Wimberly"s Google+ page, a former Huawei employee.

Android Wear 2.0 offers new personalization options, with more detailed information on watch faces, along with improved messaging support, including dictation, typing and handwriting. There are new fitness-focused features too, as well as Google Assistant support, and a new on-watch Google Play store, promising better app support for each device.

At last month"s Mobile World Congress, Huawei also unveiled its new Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic, running Android Wear 2.0 out of the box.

Update: Article updated to reflect that the build of Android Wear 2.0 currently being distributed is for approved testers only and is not the final public release.
