Perhaps one of the iPhone"s biggest success stories, Angry Birds, the popular game which stormed onto iOS devices last year, will soon be available on Sony"s PlayStation 3 gaming console and on Microsoft"s Windows Phone 7 platform in "some months".
"Angry Birds features hours of gameplay, challenging physics-based castle demolition, and lots of replay value," Sony wrote on their official blog earlier this morning. "Each of the 63 levels requires logic, skill, and brute force to crush the enemy."
Players of Angry Birds use a slingshot to fire "Angry Birds" at pigs, which "stole the Birds" eggs" and destroy their "fortified castles" using a number of different types of birds.
A tweet on the Rovio Mobile Twitter account today confirmed Angry Birds will be available on Microsoft"s Windows Phone 7 platform in "some months," with a PC version also on the cards.
The announcement of Angry Birds for PS3 doesn"t come as a complete surprise, following rumors late last year, when Rovio Mobile was in talks with game console manufacturers about expanding to their platforms.
Those wanting to play Angry Birds on the PS3 will be able to download the game from Sony"s PlayStation store soon, although it"s unclear at this stage what price will be charged for the game. On Apple"s iOS platform the game sells for 99c on the iPhone and $4.99 for the iPad.
