Windows Phone fans have much to look forward to in 2014, with at least three manufacturers committing to launching new handsets this year.
In November, ZTE confirmed that it will return to the platform, having previously launched Windows Phone 7 handsets, before turning its back on Microsoft"s mobile OS to focus its efforts on Android. Indian manufacturer XOLO confirmed last month that it too is developing Windows Phone devices, priced from just $150, as well as Windows tablets.
Fellow Indian brand Micromax revealed its Windows Phone plans back in July, and it seems that the long wait may be nearing its end. Micromax fan website MMXNewscaster has tweeted that the company’s first WP8 device will be “out soon” – although just how soon remains unclear.

Micromax is a major player in India, with almost 25% of the market, thanks to a range of well-specified and aggressively priced devices. With its domestic rival XOLO making no secret of its plans to target the lower-end of the market with affordable Windows Phones, Indian consumers look set to be the big winners here, with more competition and a broader selection of handsets to choose from.
