As we get closer to the official announcement of Google’s new Pixel phones, the leaks are starting to pick up. The new phones will be ‘showcase’ devices for Android O, the latest version of the company’s operating system, and will succeed last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL, which launched with Android 7.1 Nougat onboard.
Last month, we got our first look of the new Pixel XL, codenamed ‘Taimen’, in a leaked render that showed a device with significantly smaller bezels than its predecessor. In addition, a few days ago we got a glimpse of the XL’s smaller brother, courtesy of serial leakster Evan Blass (better known as @evleaks). According to the leaked image, the new Pixel, codenamed "Walleye", will have far larger bezels than its bigger brother and many other new flagship smartphones, such as LG’s G6 and Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+.
Today, GSMArena published two new photos of the Pixel 2, sent to them by a tipster. The images again show the device’s huge bezels and the lack of a dual camera setup.
The overall form is a bit more rectangular than last year’s Pixel, with the corners looking a bit sharper and the phone having a reportedly better in-hand feel. The second photo shows off the device"s back, which seems to confirm a camera bump and a shorter glass panel. The phone has dual front-firing stereo speakers but the tipster reports that the phone lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack, which confirms previous leaks that suggested that both of the new Pixels would eschew the venerable port.
