AOpen"s x86 Mac Mini look-alike will be receiving an update early next year thanks to Intel"s new Yonah dual core mobile processor, according to PC World. The new processors will not launch until the first quarter of next year, but Taiwanese PC makers such as AOpen already have their hands on samples. The updated version will be slightly heavier, coming in at 2.86 pounds versus the original Pentium M-based model"s 2.53 pound weight. However, the new dual core model will have the same power draw, 35 watts, as its predecessor.
Pricing for the new models is not yet available as AOpen is unsure how much the Yonah chips will cost. The new version will be on display at the Consumer Electronics Show
in Las Vegas this January.
