Electronic Arts has finally revealed the release date for its popular battle-royale title Apex Legends on the Nintendo Switch. First announced in the summer of last year, then seeing a delay a few months later, the game is finally launching on the hybrid console on March 9.
Apex Legends started the latest season of its Battle Pass today - season 8 - which means Switch players will be late to the party. Because of that, those that decide to play on Switch will be given 30 free levels in the Battle Pass for this season, plus they will be able to earn twice the XP for the first two weeks after the game launches.
As tends to be the case with AAA titles from third-party developers, EA isn"t developing the Switch version of the game by itself. The port is being handled by Panic Button, a studio that"s developed quite the reputation in terms of Switch ports. The company has already handled the Switch versions of Rocket League and DOOM, in addition to helping develop many other titles on different platforms.
The popularity of Apex Legends may be past its prime, but those looking for a new team-based shooter on Switch will likely appreciate the option. The game is free to play, and as such, won"t require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to enjoy. Additionally, it supports cross-platform play.
