Being a massively popular free-to-play game with over 50-million players, Apex Legends having a cheater problem is not unexpected, and Respawn Entertainment today revealed in a community update that over 355,000 cheaters have been banned on PC since launch.
The studio said that it is currently pouring more resources into the anti-cheat team while also working on implementing an in-game report system for players. The cheat advertisement spam bots were also addressed, with Respawn saying it is working on solutions but won"t reveal exact details to keep offenders from circumventing them.
Respawn had worked with Nvidia previously to resolve the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG crashes that plagued the RTX lineup, and next week will be AMD"s turn to collaborate with the studio to iron out issues.
While the next update to hit the game will bring fixes for some of the known crash events, the studio explained that not all crash issues have been fully identified yet. A new crash reporting feature was confirmed to be incoming with the Season 1 update, which should help in pinpointing some of the elusive ones.
Sadly, it doesn"t look like a reconnect option in case of crashes or disconnects - something the community has been requesting heavily - is incoming anytime soon. Respawn said that a feature like that could get abused and it would rather dedicate resources to "fixing stability issues."
