Apple acquires Dark Sky Weather app, kills Android version

If you"re a fan of the Dark Sky Weather app, you should know that things are about to change if you"re not using iOS. The company announced today that it"s been acquired by Apple, and pretty much anything that"s not running on the Cupertino firm"s products is about to be shut down.

As of July 1, the Android app, the Wear OS app, and the website will stop working. Since it"s a paid app, you"ll be able to get a refund if you"re still considered an active user. It will no longer be available for purchase or download starting immediately.

The website will remain active to support the API and iOS users after that, but the API is only promised to work through the end of next year. And as of right now, you won"t be able to sign up to use the API.

Dark Sky also talked about how excited it is to be joining Apple, and as expected, it didn"t disclose the conditions in which it made the transition to its new home.
