It was only a matter of time before Apple granted rite of passage to such an app. This past Tuesday, the official Playboy app for the iPhone made its way to an App Store near you (assuming you have one of those sexy pieces of hardware to run it on, pun intended). As everyone knows, the App Store has a firm stance against nudity, but nowhere does it say that an app can"t have girls dressed in lingerie, making provocative faces, does it?
As reported by Krapps.com, the app is a scaled down version of the world"s largest selling men"s magazine. For those who love to "read" Playboy, the app contains write ups from well known features, such as Playboy Interview, Playboy Advisor, 20 Questions, Party Jokes, Fashion, and more. It will also contain exclusive content, as well as the Playmate of the Month"s intro, data sheet, preview pictures, and exclusive behind the scenes video. Theresa Hennessey, spokesperson for Playboy, assures people that no nudity will be present in the app. "The pictures are all non-nude or cropped, either from the magazine pictorial or from the Playmate"s Playboy.com pictorial."
The app officially goes by the name "Playboy" and will support in-app purchasing, allowing users to buy both current and previous issues at their leisure. The initial release contains both November"s historic, Marge Simpson edition, as well as the December issue. The app is available for $1.99, with each additional issue costing an additional $1.99.
