Apple this week changed the way it runs technical support for its subscription-only .Mac suite of online services. A note from the company explains: "Beginning Monday May 3, all .Mac support questions are handled through email". A link to Apple"s new email support service for subscribers is given, along with a promise that all outstanding support requests will be resolved.
Tech support for .Mac used to be forum-based. The move to email support means no new topics can be created in any of the existing forums. To get help, members must visit an index page that guides them to the appropriate support area for their problem, Mail or Homepage, for example. On those pages, users will find FAQs and links to more information. They will also find new email forms to use if the answer isn"t there. Apple has not clarified if the support email desks will be staffed 24/7, at weekends or during public holidays.
