Apple said on Monday that it had sold 1.7 million iPhone 4 devices from Thursday June 24 to Saturday June 26.
The figures were revealed in an official press release from Apple. “This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.”
Apple"s iPhone 4 hit 600,000 pre-orders before the device was widely available on June 24. Despite sales of the new device, many have reported signal issues. It"s widely expected that Apple will issue a software fix to resolve some of the issues this week.
The iPhone 4 initial sales are very impressive, the 3GS sold 1 million units in its first weekend when it was launched last year.
