Apple today doubled the amount of storage that iCloud users can sign up for. Now, the company is offering a 2TB plan for $19.99-per-month.
The new plan comes in at just over twice the 1TB plan, which is $9.99-per-month. 50GB will still cost $0.99, 200GB will be $3.99, and of course, the 5GB tier will be free (just in case you like getting those notifications about how your iCloud is low on storage).
Apple is now one of very few companies that offers such a storage allotment. Microsoft"s OneDrive tops off at 1TB, which you can get if you"re an Office 365 subscriber (since the company decided to break its promise of unlimited storage), which costs $69.99-per-year for Personal or $99.99-per-year for Home. Dropbox"s Pro plan offers the same amount of storage for $99.99-per-year, except you don"t get the Office suite, or the ability to give four of your friends 1TB each like you would get with Office 365 Home.
Indeed, the only consumer plan from a major provider that offers a greater amount of storage than Apple now is Amazon, which still has an unlimited plan for just $69.99-per-year.
Still, with users building up more and more photos, movies, music, and more, the amount of data stored will only go up, so these types of plans will be necessary. Nevertheless, if you need 2TB of cloud storage, you can now get it from Apple.
