Apple issues iOS 4.2.1 to developers

The long wait for the latest iteration of Apple"s iOS continues after the Mac maker today released yet another ""final"" build to developers.

AppleInsider reports that the new build, labelled iOS 4.2.1, was made available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The release marks the third ""Golden Master"" build release this month - the first was released for all three iDevices on November 1, while a second build specifically for the iPad was released last week to fix a bug relating to WiFi connections.

Apple has given no indication for the updated release, but MacRumors is reporting that developers have been advised not to resubmit their apps, suggesting there have been no major changes.

iOS 4.2 is primarily aimed at bringing Apple"s iPad up to speed, features-wise, with the iPhone and iPod Touch. Among the features to be added are multitasking, printing and content streaming, along with a number of cosmetic changes. Several of these features will also be added to the iPhone - excluding the iPhone 3G - and iPod touch product families.

Apple still has more than a week to release a public version of iOS 4.2 while meeting a promised November deadline.
