Apple Maps now asks you to self-quarantine if you've recently traveled internationally

If you have recently made a trip to other countries or states, Apple"s mapping app has a piece of advice for you. Apple Maps now reminds you to stay home and self-quarantine for 14 days when it detects you have traveled internationally.

The app is sending a notification on your device urging you to follow the health guidance recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (via 9to5Mac). That"s the case for people who have gone to the airport, for example, as per the experience of Kyle Seth Gray, a healthcare technology professional. Gray shared a screenshot of the notification via Twitter.

Maps" notification is a part of Apple"s efforts to help contain the spread of COVID-19. It contains a link to CDC"s web page that instructs those who are returning from an international travel in the way of health monitoring. These include avoiding contact with others, conducting a temperature check twice a day, and observing social distancing.

It"s the latest step by Apple to aid in COVID-19 prevention efforts. In April, the company released mobility data to help authorities analyze the number of people commuting, walking or driving amid community quarantines. A month before that, Apple also launched a screening tool and other resources related to COVID-19.
