Apple might be ready to introduce a 10.5-inch iPad this spring

Apple might be readying yet another iPad for release, according to a report by cnBeta and spotted by iMore. This one is set to arrive in the spring, and Apple will once again be increasing the screen size, bumping it up from 10.2 inches to 10.5 inches. It"s going to keep the Touch ID home button.

Along with the home button, it will also continue to use Apple"s proprietary Lightning port, whereas both the iPad Air and iPad Pro have moved on to USB Type-C. Of course, those devices have also ditched the home button by now, so the base model is just sticking with the old design for a bit longer.

Internally, it"s going to include Apple"s A13 Bionic processor, the same that was found in the iPhone 11 series, and it will have 4GB RAM. Base storage will be 64GB, an increase from the current 32GB.

While these are mostly incremental and expected updates for the base model iPad, it"s worth remembering that Apple only launched its A12-powered iPads in September. Spring does seem a bit early for a product refresh. And if anyone was taking bets, most would probably assume that the iPad Pro series was on deck for a refresh, since that only got a minor refresh in March.

But according to this rumor, the new base-level iPads are coming this spring, and they"ll even lower the price point to $299.
