A new report from TechCrunch says that Apple is preparing to switch out the Midterm Elections section in its news app on November 6 at 8 P.M. ET with an Election Night section, so that users can keep on top of all the latest developments. The Election Night section will bring together live results, developments on important races, and more.
Once users have the new tab, they’ll continue to get new information that’ll be refreshed every minute with data from the Associated Press. Apple chose to partner with AP due to its “history and experience with verifying results”, according to TechCrunch. Users will be able to sift through data pertaining to seats up for grabs in the House and Senate, they’ll also receive “dynamic infographics”. Apple will send out alerts to its users once it knows who has won the Senate and the House.
Aside from data being pulled in from Associated Press, Apple News will also grab the latest headlines and stories being published by the press; these stories will be sourced from Axios, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, Politico, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and more. This should provide users with a balance of views and opinions. CBS News, CNN, and Fox News will also provide video clips while ABC and NBC will provide live streams.
Once the Midterms are finally over, Apple News should return to a similar state that it was in prior to June 25th when the firm started aggregating Midterm Election news.
