Apple rolled out a new round of betas to developers today, bringing minor updates to three of its four major operating systems. These include iOS 10.3, macOS 10.12.4 Sierra, and tvOS 10.2, but there"s no sign of a new watchOS update. The news comes one day after the company released bug fix updates to the public.
Since these are minor updates, there are some front-facing features that are worth noting. iOS 10.3 adds a feature to Find My iPhone that will allow you to locate your AirPods. It will also update the file system to Apple File System (APFS).
SiriKit gets some new functionality as well, such as the ability to make payments and order an Uber. You"ll be able to 3D Touch the weather icon in Maps too to show hourly forecasts and other such information. There are also some improvements to HomeKit and CarPlay.
Perhaps more interesting is what"s not included. Rumors from earlier this month indicated that there would be a new "Theatre Mode", and this turned out to be untrue.
macOS 10.12.4 Sierra brings a few improvements as well. Night Shift is now supported on Apple"s desktop OS, bringing the ability to make the display warmer at nighttime. Siri can now check cricket scores, schedules, and player rosters from the Indian Premier League and International Cricket Council. There"s also dictation support for Shanghainese.
tvOS 10.2 has some new features, but none that you"ll notice upon using it. There"s Accelerated Scrolling support for UIKit and TVMLKit apps, Device Enrollment Program, Expanded Mobile device Management, and the Video Toolbox framework.
But that"s not all. There"s a Safari 10.1 beta available, which should come with the new macOS build; however, if you"re still running OS X 10.10 or 10.11 and you want to test it out, this is what you"ll need. It focuses on general website compatibility, extension compatibility, debugging using Web Inspector, and HTTP Authentication.
And believe it or not, that"s still not everything. Beta 1 of macOS Server 5.3 is now out, as well as Apple Configurator 2.4. Both of these have a number of improvements as well, which you can find in the release notes in Apple Developer.
