Earlier this week, we reported that Apple had released iOS 13.1 beta 4, but it wasn"t yet available for the new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro series of handsets. Being that the new devices are officially available to the general public today, so is the beta. You can now download restore images from Apple Developer, and that means that the OTA should work as well.
This news is particularly important because Apple released the first iOS 13.1 beta so early. The new iPhones ship with iOS 13, meaning that if you want to restore from an iOS 13.1 iCloud backup, you can"t. You"ll still need to set up the device as a new phone, install the beta, reset it, and restore from an iCloud backup, but at least now there"s a beta to install. You can check out our guide here.
iOS 13.1 includes a ton of fixes from iOS 13, and also some features that didn"t make it into the GM seed. These include the Share ETA button in Maps, Apple"s new lyrics feature in Music, Siri Shortcuts automations, audio sharing, and more. Originally, the update was slated for launch on September 30, but it was bumped up yesterday to September 24.
