Apple releases iOS 14.2.1 with fixes for iPhone 12 mini's lock screen bug and more

Apple is rolling out iOS 14.2.1 that brings with it a few fixes for the iPhone 12 series phones. One of the main fixes brought by the firm is for the recently released iPhone 12 Mini, which has been experiencing an issue with the lock screen that results in the device becoming unresponsive.

The said problem seems to have been plaguing iPhone 12 mini phones since launch day, guessing from the number of responses in a Reddit thread and user reports on Appleā€™s forums. Users have been complaining of the screen rejecting thumb input or wide presses on the screen, with the phone only recognizing light taps for both dismissing the lock screen or using the shortcut icons for the camera or flashlight.

In addition to the touch issues, the Cupertino firm has also fixed problems with MMS messages and some audio issues. Here is the complete changelog:

  • Some MMS messages may not be received
  • Made for iPhone hearing devices could have sound quality issues when listening to audio from iPhone
  • Lock Screen could become unresponsive on iPhone 12 mini

Since the update has just begun rolling out, it could be a while till it propagates to all devices for download. Folks over at 9to5Mac report that the update is only available to the recent iPhone 12 lineup.
