Apple releases the GM seeds for iOS 12, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12

Today, Apple held its annual event where it announced a trio of new iPhones, alongside of a new Apple Watch. Alongside of new devices, however, comes new software updates, which have been in beta since WWDC in June.

As usual, Apple released the GM seeds of all of its major updates today, which include iOS 12, macOS 10.14 Mojave, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12. GM is the final build, which will be released to the general public on September 19, at least for most of them. macOS Mojave might arrive a little later.

iOS 12 focuses on improved performance on older devices, and indeed, it"s supported by all of the devices that supported iOS 11. There are other new features as well, such as new Animoji, Animoji in FaceTime, Screen Time, and more.

And then there"s macOS Mojave, which is quite an upgrade. Most users will embrace the new dark mode, but UIKit will also bring iOS apps to the Mac. Unfortunately, there are a lot of devices that will be stuck on High Sierra, as the oldest non-Pro Macs to get this update will be from late 2012. Oddly, Apple released an 11th beta of Mojave today instead of a GM.

watchOS 5 adds a new Walkie Talkie feature, along with Siri shortcuts, and the ability for your Watch to know when you started or stopped working out. watchOS 5 will arrive for all Apple Watch devices with the exception of the original one.

Finally, tvOS 12 is a somewhat minor update. It will now support Dolby Atmos, along with a feature called Zero Sign-On that will allow you to sign into your cable company without a password. tvOS 12 is available for the fourth-generation Apple TV and the Apple TV 4K.
