Apple rolls out iOS 10.1 Public Beta 2

Apple released new developer previews of macOS 10.12.1 Sierra, watchOS 3.1, tvOS 10.0.1 and iOS 10.1 this week - but developers aren"t the only ones to get the latest taste of what the company has in store for its devices.

iOS 10.1 Public Beta 2 is also available to install, following the release of the first Public Beta last month. iOS 10.1 focuses almost entirely on bug fixes, although iPhone 7 Plus users can look forward to a significant new feature, with the addition of Portrait Mode for the handset"s camera. This allows users to take photos with a bokeh effect, blurring the background in an aesthetically pleasing way.

Apple originally released iOS 10 a few weeks ago for many of its i-devices. The most recent release for those not on the Developer or Public Beta programs is version 10.0.2, which brought several fixes, including one to address a problem with the company"s new Lightning EarPods that prevented the controls from functioning correctly.
