Apple rumored to be launching three new iPhones next year, one with OLED screen

For a long time now, we’ve been hearing that next year’s iPhone models will bring a brand-new design and radical features, to mark the line’s 10th anniversary. Now, a credible report is shedding a bit more light on what to expect from Apple, come 2017.

Rumors have been swirling for a long time that pointed to Apple adopting OLED panels for at least some of its devices next year, and a new report from KGI Securities is reinforcing that notion. According to the note sent to investors, KGI analysts believe Apple will launch as many as three new iPhones in 2017, with different configurations and hitting various price points. Accordingly, the company’s lineup might look something like this:

  • 4.7-inch iPhone with LCD and single camera
  • 5.5-inch iPhone model with LCD and dual camera
  • 5.5-inch iPhone model with OLED display and dual camera

All the new phones would feature a brand-new design, one that supposedly goes back to the all-glass build, last seen on the iPhone 4 models. Wireless charging, bezel-less screens, and no Home button have all been rumored as possible features as well, but none of them are confirmed at this point.

The addition of an OLED screen to the iPhone is a very interesting, and credible, possibility at this point, and there’s speculation that this will create a new top-tier niche phone, that might hit even higher price points.

We’re just shy of one year away from the expected launch of the iPhone 8 models, or whatever the devices end up being called, so you can bet we’ll learn more as we move into 2017.
