Apple Store down for maintenance, pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus imminent [Update]

The time has finally arrived, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are now moments away from being officially available for pre-order. While it is uncertain what time Apple will make the handsets available, the Apple Store is currently undergoing maintenance, which usually signifies the store is being updated with new product.

Both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus share roughly the same specifications, with the exception of the screen, camera, and minor UI differences. The iPhone 6 will have a 4.7" 1334 x 750 pixel Retina HD display, 64-bit A8 processor with M8 motion coprocessor, 8MP camera, 1GB RAM, and measure in at 6.9mm thin. The iPhone 6 Plus will have the same processor and memory, but will instead equipped with a 5.5" 1920 x 1080 Retina HD display, 8MP camera with optical image stabilization, and UI tweaks in iOS 8 that will take advantage of the larger display.

While it is uncertain when the Apple Store will be updated to reflect the new products, as of 1:45am PST, the Apple Store is still down for maintenance. But, when it comes back up, we should see the option to pre-order the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. If you aren"t quite sold on the different sizes, maybe having a look at the iPhone in 3D will help you solidify your decision.

Update: 2:30am PST - The Apple Store has come online with availability of both the iPhone and iPhone 6 Plus.
