Although we didn"t see a new Apple TV make its debut at Apple"s "Spring Forward" event, we did see a huge price cut and lucrative partnership with HBO.
Today, Apple announced a new price for their Apple TV. The streaming box will now be priced at $69 USD. This is a phenomenal price and finally puts it in line with many other competitors. Along with the dramatic price cut, Apple also announced a new exclusive partnership with HBO.
Starting in April, Apple TV owners will also have exclusive access to HBO"s streaming service, HBO Now. The service will allow access to all of HBO"s past and present shows like The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, and Sex and the City. The HBO Now channel will come to Apple TV in April and will cost $14.99 a month. For those that subscribe early, the channel"s first month will be available for free. Pricing for Apple TV should be updated as soon as the Apple Store is back up and pricing should reflect industry wide at other retailers.
