With Apple Watch pre-orders opening today, it was only fitting that a video would appear showing how resilient the sapphire crystal display is on the Apple Watch.
While we would normally have to wait for the release of the device for such a test to be performed, the folks at iPhonefixed have managed to procure the sapphire crystal watch face of the upcoming Apple Watch early. Naturally, once you have a sapphire crystal screen in hand, you have to put it through a battery of tests to make sure that it can actually withstand daily scratches and bumps.
Unsurprisingly, the lens manages to accept every form of abuse thrown at it without a single scratch. The iPhonefixed team even manages to try and present a worst-case scenario by drilling into the display with a power drill. Be sure to hit the source link below to check out the video.
If you"re interested in obtaining an Apple Watch of your own, be sure to pre-order your unit, tonight at midnight. If you"re debating about size, you may want to print out the 38 and 42mm templates to help you decide. The Apple Watch will start at $349 for the "Sport" model. The sapphire crystal / stainless steel model will start at $549.
