Apple announced its new Studio Display earlier this month. The hardware features a 27-inch 5K Retina screen with over 14.7 million pixels, 600 nits of brightness, and P3 wide color. It also sports Apple"s A13 Bionic chipset along with a 12MP Ultra-wide front camera. Although the display obviously works with macOS PCs via Thunderbolt connectivity, Apple has now updated Boot Camp with native support for Windows running on Mac too.
For those unaware, Boot Camp is Apple"s native solution for natively running Windows on Mac hardware. The update bumps Boot Camp to version 61.1.17 and adds support for the new Studio Display when using Windows through Boot Camp. It also includes updated drivers for AMD and Intel GPUs.
While this is all well and good, it is important to note that there are still a few limitations to consider when connecting a Studio Display to a Mac running Windows. You lose features such as Center Stage, Spatial Audio, and the "Hey Siri" voice command. Other functionalities should work as expected, though.
It is also worthwhile to mention that Boot Camp only works with Macs on Intel processors. M1 Macs have to depend on workarounds like Parallels virtualization to run Windows.
