The much-rumored iPad Pro may soon enter production if a corroboration of reports are to be believed. A report by KGI Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo coupled with a report from Taiwanese-based DigiTimes today state that the iPad Pro may hit production in the September-October range, with a targeted release in late 2015.
The report states that the potential 12.9-inch tablet will see a release in the fourth quarter with shipments upwards of 4 million units.
Further, the report states that Sharp will be the primary provider of the displays for the tablet with Samsung and TPK being secondary providers. The touch panels will most likely be provided by General Interface Solutions (GIS), a subsidiary of manufacturing-giant Foxconn.
As we had reported earlier, iOS 9 is introducing multitasking with a feeling akin to Windows 8. With an approximate 12.9-inch iPad, the benefit of having a larger display becomes more appealing for users of iOS-based devices. Apple has been rumored to be targeting the business and enterprise market.
Does this place it in direct competition with the potential upcoming Surface Pro 4? If this device were to carry pen input with palm detection, would you consider it as a mobile contender to the Surface line, or would you prefer Windows 10 as opposed to a "mobile" operating system?
