Apple announced today the start of its Shot on iPhone Challenge, a photography contest inviting users of all iPhone models to submit their best images via social media. The judging panel will pick 10 winning entries from all submissions worldwide.
The contest runs from January 22 to February 7 at 11:59 pm PST and participants must be at least 18 years old to be eligible. Contestants may submit their entries by posting them to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #ShotOniPhone or #ShotOniPhone# for Weibo users. Apple also allows participants to edit their images using either its Photos app or any other third-party editing tools.
Winning photos will be featured on Apple"s website, retail stores, billboards, and various social media accounts including Twitter, Instagram, WeChat, and Weibo. However, it"s a royalty-free, non-exclusive license agreement for one year, though participants still retain the rights to their photos.
The company says it will announce the winners in February. The panel of judges consists of 11 photographers like Pete Souza, the chief official White House photographer for former U.S. President Barack Obama, and Annet de Graaf, a travel photographer.
