Many have anticipated that Apple will come with something truly exciting and unique with its next iPhone - as it is the 10th anniversary of the device. If a new rumor is to be believed, it appears that the company might look to its iPhone 4 for inspiration, looking to create a model with glass panels on the front and back that would sandwich a metal frame.
For the past three cycles, Apple has stuck to its design of offering an all metal chassis and has only made slight revisions. If Apple does decide to revisit the glass panel design that was found in its iPhone 4, it would need to make considerable improvements. It appears that Apple is well aware of this and will use a new forging process to increase the rigidity of the frame which will also reduce cost and the time that it would take to manufacture.
Along with the improved chassis mentioned previously, Apple could also improve its display by offering AMOLED for the very first time. Previously, Apple has relied on LCD displays for its iPhones. There is still a good nine months before we will be able to see the next iPhone in the flesh and there will without a doubt be multiple leaks as we get closer to the launch date. Apple will most likely announce its next handset at its new headquarters, Campus 2, which is expected to be completed sometime this year.
