Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference heads to San Jose, from June 5-9

Apple has announced that its Worldwide Developer Conference will take place from June 5 to 9. This year"s event won"t be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco as in previous years; instead, the company will be hosting WWDC at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose.

Apple will showcase the latest updates to its various operating systems - iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS - at the conference. If you"re hoping to see the next iPhone make its debut there, you"ll probably be disappointed; Apple tends to unveil its flagship handsets towards the end of the year, rather than at its developer-focused event.

The theme for this year"s conference seems to be based around the idea of technology as a driving force for creativity and positive change, as Apple"s WWDC website explains:

Technology alone is not enough.
Technology must intersect with the liberal arts and the humanities, to create new ideas and experiences that push society forward. This summer we bring together thousands of brilliant minds representing many diverse perspectives, passions, and talents to help us change the world.

Registration for the event opens on March 27, and will be available to existing members of the Apple Developer Program or Apple Developer Enterprise Program. The company says that "the opportunity to buy tickets to WWDC17 will be offered by random selection."
