Arrowhead: We are working on a solution for Helldivers 2 PC players that can't sign into PSN

It has not been a good day for developer Arrowhead Game Studios. In the last day, the team behind the hit third person sci-fi shooter sequel Helldivers 2 has had its game review bombed by thousands of its players, who are now protesting the fact that publisher Sony will soon require its PC players on Steam to sign into a PlayStation Network account in order to keep playing.

Today, Arrowhead"s CEO Johan Pilestedt posted a number of messages and replies to questions about this situation on his X (formerly Twitter) account. In one such post, he noted the Steam review bombing of the game. He added.

Well, I guess it"s warranted. Sorry everyone for how this all transpired. I hope we will make it up and regain the trust by providing a continued great game experience.

I just want to make great games!

Ouch, right in the review score 😢🤕

In another X post, Pilestedt stated:

I understand that linking accounts and signing up for additional services may not be something that some users would like to do and that needs to be respected. While the steam page has always shown the requirements on the game page, I wish we had been more clear with the long term intent to not disappoint any of the divers out there.

Some Helldivers 2 PC players have noted that they live in a part of the world where they cannot sign in or create a PSN account. Pilestedt replied on X by saying, "We are discussing that question with our partners at PlayStations and trying to find a solution."

Unless things change, new PC players will be required to sign into a PSN account and link it to their Steam account to continue playing Helldivers 2 on May 6. Current players will have until June 4 to do the same
