During The Game Awards today, the indie action RPG that has shown up multiple times during Microsoft"s E3 presentations, Ashen, received a surprise release. The game is now available on both the Xbox One console family as well as PC through the new Epic Games Store.
Developed by Aurora44, Ashen takes place in a desolate open world devoid of light featuring plenty of mythical enemies. The title is described as having "passive multiplayer" as well where players can run into other human players while roaming the world, but it will be up to them to choose whether to team up or go their own separate ways. The combat is very Dark Souls-esque as well, so teaming up is a good strategy against big bosses.
Ashen can now be picked up for $39.99 for Xbox One through the Microsoft Store and PC via Epic Games Store. It is also part of the Xbox Game Pass program, meaning all subscribers on Xbox One can jump in and play right now. The title comes already enhanced on the Xbox One X as well.
Interestingly, the game is listed as an Xbox Play Anywhere title on Microsoft"s own website, but it doesn"t appear to be available on Windows 10 through the Microsoft Store just yet. There is also a Steam page set up for the game, but it is not purchasable there either.
