As the IFA trade show in Berlin gets ready to officially open its doors on Thursday, more PC makers are revealing their new PC products they will be showing off at the show. One of them is Asus, who just announced the UX301 Ultrabook.
The notebook was first revealed in a teaser video and, as typical of Asus, the clip is highly elegant and stylish, as if it is showing off a car rather than a PC. The video claims that the notebook"s 13.3 inch display will have a high resolution 2560x1440 WQHD touchscreen. The notebook"s hinge wraps around the screen so that Zenbook UX301"s keyboard can be raised up for better typing.
The case of the Ultrabook is covered in Corning"s Gorilla Glass 3 for better protection, according to the video. Inside, it states the Zenbook UX301 will have Intel"s fourth generation version of its Core processor, the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi antenna and Asus"s SonicMaster audio speakers and technology.
Engadget has some more information on the Zenbook UX301, claiming that Asus will offer up to 512GB of SSD storage, and some models will have an option to have an NVIDIA GT 730M GPU inside. Asus will also sell the Zenbook UX3012 which will have the same design as the UX301 but with a lower resolution display. Finally, the notebooks will come either in white or, as the video showed, in a navy blue color.
There"s no word yet on pricing for either the Zenbook UX301 or UX3012, but both are scheduled to ship sometime in the fourth quarter; that likely means both will have Windows 8.1 pre-installed.
