The rollout of Android Wear 2.0 has been, to put it mildly, a mess. In September, Google said that the update"s release had been delayed until early 2017, but in February, it announced that Android Wear 2.0 had finally arrived, and would be made available to numerous devices "in the coming weeks".
But by late March, no devices had been upgraded, and when the update eventually began rolling out, it was quickly suspended for numerous devices due to the discovery of a last-minute bug. Last month, Google said that all eligible devices would be upgraded by the end of May, including the ASUS ZenWatch 3.
Yesterday, as Android Police reported, ASUS" official UK Twitter account said that Android Wear 2.0 had "started rolling out" the day before. However, the company later deleted that tweet, and has since clarified that it was "mistaken" in posting that information:
That more recent tweet, posted earlier today, makes it clear that Android Wear 2.0 isn"t yet available for the ZenWatch 3, and that ASUS is intending to begin its rollout later in May.
Meanwhile, Verizon has cancelled its release of the LG Watch Sport, one of two wearable devices that Google unveiled to showcase the launch of Android Wear 2.0 in February.
