Asus has revealed that its 7-inch tablet, which starts at $199 in the US, is approaching 1 million sales a month. Talking to The Wall Street Journal, Asus Chief Financial Officer David Chang said,
At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to 1 million
The sales are likely to continue as earlier in the week Google announced a 32GB and HSPA+ version of the Nexus 7 which users have been asking for since the initial launch, along with a new Nexus smartphone and a 10-inch tablet built by Samsung.
For those unfamiliar with the Nexus 7 it comes with a 7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD, a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A9, 1GB of RAM, a 4325-mAh battery, NFC and Android Jelly Bean.
