ASUS unveils 30th anniversary edition Zenfone 6 and ZenBook at Computex 2019

At its Computex 2019 show today, ASUS announced fresh editions of its Zenfone 6 and ZenBook devices as part of its 30th-anniversary celebration. It is worth noting that these are not new products, but are special editions that pack some hardware upgrade to boot.

The ZenFone 6 Edition 30 comes with some of the original specs and features of its original version that was announced earlier this month. The main upgrades come to its internals, with the new edition maxing out at 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The original Zenfone 6 comes only with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Most noticeably, there are some changes to the design of the new edition. The Zenfone 6 Edition 30 has a matte black color option and a concentric-circle pattern on its back, which is embossed with ASUS" 30th-anniversary logo. Other than those changes, the phone retains the rest of the key elements of the Zenfone 6 including its 6.4-inch FullHD+ display, Snapdragon 855 SoC, 48MP+13MP camera on the back, and a 5,000mAh battery.

ASUS also unveiled the ZenBook Edition 30 (UX334FL), which brings a modern flavor to the S6F Leather Collection that launched in 2006 with its Pearl White genuine leather case and "Rose Gold anodized diamond-cut edges and trim bar." Its 30th-anniversary logo on the lid is plated with 18-karat gold for added luxury. Key specs include 8th-gen Intel Core i7 CPUs, 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of SSD storage, and a 13.3-inch FullHD display with a 178-degree viewing angle. It also features an upgraded ScreenPad 2.0 for an interactive secondary screen.

While the ZenBook Edition 30 took most of the limelight at the event, ASUS also announced the ZenBook Pro and ZenBook Pro Duo. Finally, the company introduced the Prime X299 Edition 30 motherboard featuring dual Thunderbolt 3 ports, 5G Aquantia LAN, Intel Gigabit LAN, Intel WiFi 6, the new Smart Control Console, and a 2-inch LiveDash OLED display for displaying system status.
