ASUS introduced today a new hardware product built specifically for holding Google Meet video conferences. The offering includes three bundles, each with different capabilities in terms of the number of participants that can join a meeting at a time.
Each hardware kit features the ASUS – Google Meet Compute System as its hub, powered by an Intel Core i7 processor. The Large Room package, which can support up to 20 meeting participants, comprises a small computer for running the calls, a speakermic, a PTZ PRO2 camera, and a touch screen. The same accessory set comes with the Small/Medium Room kit, although this package includes only a UHD camera and supports up to eight participants. The Starter kit comes with a remote control, although it does not include a touch screen panel.
The UHD camera features a 120-degree field of view and a 720p HD output. Also, the speakermic has a 360-degree sound input and output of up to 20 feet away, with echo-cancellation and noise-suppression systems. The computer has 128GB internal storage and runs Chrome OS, with support for up to 4K video and multiple displays at once. The hardware ships with a magnetic chassis and wall mount.
ASUS will roll out the hardware products in 28 countries beginning in June (via 9to5Google). The Starter Kit will be priced at £1650/€1915 (~$2,088), the Small/Medium Room kit at £1970/€2320 (~$2,530), and the Large Room kit at £1700/€1970 (~$2,149).
