AT&T to spend $750M for new networks and services in '07

AT&T Incorporated announced it will invest more than $750 million this year (86% more than last year) in 200 initiatives for its global network infrastructure and retail and wholesale IP services. The program includes the expansion and deployment of data centers worldwide; 38 data centres in total will be deployed by the year"s end. New features will also be added to the vendor"s virtual private network services portfolio, including global enhanced remote monitoring and management capabilities. AT&T also will focus on expanding global IP networking capabilities in many countries across the globe. In terms of Wi-Fi, AT&T said it plans to increase the number of hot spots it sets up and services from 46,000 to 55,000 in more than 80 countries.
