At the beginning of the month, Samsung updated its support site to show that the "current" OS version available for its Galaxy S6 on AT&T was Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. This seemed like a pretty strong indication that the update would arrive imminently, which came as a great relief to many of AT&T"s customers, whose frustrations were intensifying over the carrier"s ongoing lack of communication on the matter.
However, the wait continued, with no update, and still no word from AT&T on its plans. But today - over two weeks later; three months after Samsung began upgrading its Galaxy S6 and S6 edge to Android 6.0.1 - and more than seven months after Google originally released Marshmallow - AT&T has finally started its rollout for both devices.
On its support forums, the carrier wrote:
Hello Community!
We can’t thank you enough for your patience regarding the Marshmallow update for the Galaxy series of phones. We know how eagerly you all have been waiting.
We can officially announce today that all testing has been completed, and we have launched the Marshmallow update for the Galaxy s6 and s6 Edge!
