AT&T taking Samsung Galaxy S4 pre-orders April 16th for $249.99

Earlier this month, Samsung officially announced the Galaxy S4 smartphone to the world after many teasers and Internet leaks about the upcoming smartphone were posted. Now AT&T has become the first US wireless carrier to announce just when it will start taking pre-orders for the device.

In a brief post on its blog, AT&T stated, "Continuing our legacy as the first carrier to launch Samsung’s Galaxy series, we are excited to announce AT&T customers will be able to begin pre-ordering the Galaxy S4 beginning April 16 for $249.99 with a two-year commitment."

While AT&T says it will start pre-orders on that date, there"s still no word on when the Galaxy S4 will actually start shipping or when the smartphone will go on sale in AT&T"s retail stores. It should not be long before other US carriers such as Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint reveal their own Galaxy S4 sales plans and prices.

It"s already been confirmed that the US versions of the Galaxy S4, along with models sold in the UK, will have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor inside. Models of the smartphone sold in other parts of the world will have Samsung"s in-house developed eight-core Exynos 5 processor, with four Cortex-A15 and four Cortex-A7 cores.
