Highly anticipated augmented reality game Pokémon GO finally launched in some countries just a couple of days ago, much to the delight of "trainers" all over the globe. While many have been busy traveling around their localities in order to catch all the Pokémon, a concerned Australian authority has issued a warning to highlight the dangers of being too much engrossed in the game.
The Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services in Australia has posted an advisory on its Facebook page, requesting people to stay clear of police stations even if they are featured as Pokéstops. The full message from the government organization is quite light-hearted and humorous in tone, and is as follows:
For those budding Pokemon Trainers out there using Pokemon Go - whilst the Darwin Police Station may feature as a Pokestop, please be advised that you don"t actually have to step inside in order to gain the pokeballs.
It"s also a good idea to look up, away from your phone and both ways before crossing the street. That Sandshrew isn"t going anywhere fast.
Stay safe and catch "em all!
It"s understandable that the Australian authorities want Pokémon trainers to stay away from police stations since they could interfere in daily proceedings.
Pokémon GO has been currently downloaded almost 100,000 times from the Google Play Store and enjoys a respectable rating of 3.8/5 after 20,000 votes with some of the reviewers complaining about limited functionality in their regions. The game has a similar rating in the iOS App Store, with users citing similar issues and bugs.
